Lost Type visits Salt Lake City

Danelle Cheney, one of Lost Type’s most regular contributors, is hosting some of the Lost Type team in her home city of Salt Lake City, Utah!

She’s organised a variety of type and lettering events along with Lost Type, the Salt Lake Lettering Club (which she also organises), Carolyne Chronister, and the SLCC Art Committee:

Lost Type Lecture

We’ve spoken together in Chicago, Vancouver, and Philadelphia. Now, join us in Salt Lake City for the Lost Type Lecture:

Exhibition Opening & Lettering Club

This event includes prints, process drawings, and specimens of a delightfully typographic nature. Featuring work by attending Lost Type contributors, Marisol Ortega, Scotty Reifsnyder, Martin Azambuja, and many more. Lost Type Exhibition Opening:

From our gallery opening in Philadelphia last fall.

Salt Lake Lettering Club will be there too, with a couple drawing tables set up. Bring your favourite drawing tools, and mingle with fellow letter-lovers!

This piece by Marisol Ortega and Salt Lake City attendee Dave Bailey debuted at our show in Philadelphia.

Workshops

A more recent addition to these trips are some very reasonably priced workshops—I would be taking this if I could.

Points on Point: Intro to Vectorizing Letters Workshop

Professional type designer, lettering artist, and Lost Type co-founder Riley Cran will condense years of experience into a 3 hour workshop that will teach you the true best practices of vector drawing. Place Points on Point, with Riley’s Intro to Vectorizing Letters workshop:

Design with No Time Workshop

What do you do when a project lands on your desk and the timeline is measured in minutes rather than days? Dan “Grayhood” Gneiding—you know his work as designer and illustrator at Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and (of course) Lost Type—will help prepare you for these inevitable situations, and show you ways of using pattern, colour and materials for rapid image making. Design with No Time and Dan:

There are more announcements to come—make sure to follow along with Lost Type on Instagram and Twitter wherever you are. If you’re based near Salt Lake City, Dan, Danelle, Dave, and Riley will see you in person soon!
