I spent an afternoon at my local public library (check out the ninth floor winter garden if you’re ever in downtown Chicago!), and came across a book published in 1987 titled Soviet Commercial Design of the 20’s. Amongst a myriad of Soviet propaganda-leaning gems was a series of posters by Dmitry Bulanov. The internet yielded little information on Bulanov’s training and history, but his illustration style and treatment of Cyrillic characters is really refreshing.
